We got hold of Wii’s new video game bundled with a new hardware called Wii MotionPlus set to be launched in June or July of 2009 in a recently held Electronics Expo. The Wii Sports Resort features sports that let you play like you’re really playing the sports in real life. I tried only one of the three games in the bundle: Disc Dog. The other two games in the Wii Sports Resort handle are Power Cruising and Swordplay. It was my first time to see and use Wii MotionPlus and I can say that i really improved the sensibility of the game. I have to tell you that you can’t play this game in the new Wii Sports Resort without the Wii Motion Plus. The Nintendo people at the booth said that the video game will be bundled with the Wii Motion Plus.
In the Disc Dog game, all you have to do is to hold the Wii MotionPlus and move like you’re throwing a Frisbee. You don’t have to push any button to release the Frisbee because the sensor in the new hardware can detect when you need to release it. I enjoyed playing it. You need to practice throwing the Frisbee to a spot in the screen. Your goal is to get the Frisbee near that spot.

The Wii manages to not totally suck at making a sword fighting game. Though it was hyped in western press as “fencing” it’s really more like kendo. What did a real fencer think of the game? Read my review to find out.I wasn’t able to sample the other two Sports and this got me excited with the release of the Wii MotionPlus and Wii Sports Resort. I heard that you don’t need to use the new hardware when you’re playing Swordplay though so I am more excited with the jet ski race simulation game.
Wii MotionPlus is a new hardware which is set to be available in the market in June. It is a little box that you plug into the bottom of the Wii remote controller. It promises to be more sensitive to the little movements of the wrist and arms of the players. I was able to try it out with one of games in Wii Sports Resort in one Expo I attended to. It lived up to its promise. The game that I tried with the Wii MotionPlus was Disc Dog. The only thing to do is to hold the Wii remote controller with the Wii MotionPlus plugged into it. You make a movement as if you’re throwing a Frisbee. I can say from the first second that I held the Wiimote that the reaction of the game to my arm movements are faster. It’s really real-time.
